ArtSystems and MakerBot lead the way with new Educators’ Gateway to 3D Printing

A new education specific programme called The Educators’ Gateway to 3D Printing will help specialist distributor ArtSystems and 3D printer manufacturer MakerBot provide schools and other teaching facilities with quicker, simpler, and more effective bespoke access to 3D printing technology. The programme has been developed using the experiences of the UK&I education arenas, and the need to overcome barriers that still exist for many education sectors in adopting 3D printing. To facilitate this ArtSystems will be exhibiting at BETT 2018 (January 24th – 27th Excel, London, Stand G130, Halls N6- N7) with the MakerBot Replicator range of desktop 3D printers.

Ted Freer, Divisional Manager, Design, explained the initiative: “We have spent the last three years with our MakerBot channel partners providing 3D printing systems to the education sector, and it became very clear that schools and colleges needed a new and easier way to access 3D printing technology. Lack of training, support, and resource management – plus limited budgets – are all major barriers to access. Thanks to The Educators’ Gateway to 3D Printing programme we can address these barriers in an integrated way that lets teachers use as much or as little as they need to achieve their goals.”

He continued: “The Educators Gateway to 3D Printing means any teaching establishment can put together a bespoke 3D printing solution that is unique to them, using leading hardware technology from MakerBot backed up by ArtSystems’ support and training services. Budget plans also form a key part of the Gateway concept with a range of flexible options to enable education budgets go further and get even better value.

During BETT there will also be an array of STEM related demonstrations on ArtSystems’ Stand G130. The new MakerBot Educator’s guide forms the centrepiece of a range of learning support resources that aim to provide teachers with access to a broad selection of best practice lesson plans from which they can choose those most relevant to their class needs.
